BMX bikes today
BMX
means bicycle, motocross and extreme. This type of sport was created by
motocross. This sport was all about racing and jumping ramps with motorcycles.
In the 1970’s children use to watch these stunt motorcycles performing and this
is where it all begin. Children used to race between each other with their
bicycles in the streets. In mid 1970’s bicycle factories started to
manufactures and creating new bicycles for this sport, to be more handling and
for speed. Designers started to make new bicycles that are designed for BMX.
Everything in life says that with practice makes perfect. Where years pasted
and BMX designers are still hunting for new ways to be much more comfortable,
lightweight, steady, strong and safe. The first BMX bicycles had a long seat
post so you can pedal while seated, long and heavy tubes, plastic spokes and
more… As today’s bicycles are much better than the ones before, each year
something new is designed or made. Bicycles today have large tyres for a bigger
surface area, short lightweight tubes made from different types of metal such
as aluminum or titanium. Short seat post so you can pedal upright and not
getting in contact with the bicycle while jumping, larger handle bars to get
more room for your hands and to keep your back straight, aluminum spokes for
more strength but much lighter than the old plastic ones. The group of BMX
association is getting bigger all over the world with camps, parks, parties,
jams, ramps etc.… are also getting much more exciting a huge number of children
start to ride their bicycle when they are young and become in love of it and
continue their sport through out a large number of years. As I practice this
sport and I have been riding BMX for almost 5 years I can see a lot of
difference in the bicycle design and it helps me with my stunts and safety.
